Firm History

The history of the firm reflects its name "RENASCENCE" which means; "a new beginning" "a rebirth" "a new coming" "a re-organisation".The firm started in 2007 as SAMUEL & CO with make shift offices located at 19 Agboyin Avenue Surulere Lagos. Under this name and style, major credit transactions were negotiated on behalf of Bank of industry Limited with various lenders across the territory of Nigeria. In addition, some complex litigation matters such as BANK OF INDUSTRY & 2 OTHERS v PRINCE M.A ADEDIRAN & ANOTHER; IN RE: ADEDIRAN STEEL & WIRE INDUSTRIES LIMITED IN RECEIVERSHIP (Federal High Court Osogbo); MRS RONKE ONANUBI v DELTA AFRIK LIMITED (High Court of Lagos State) were undertaken by members of the aforementioned firm.

In 2008, Olumayowa A. Owolabi joined the founder of SAMUEL & CO (now defunct), Olaseni A. Oyefeso as an equity partner necessitating a change of name. They both thereafter emerged as OWOLABI & OYEFESO under an integrated partnership model and remained so until 18, November 2013 when the aforesaid partnership was dissolved.

Consequently, the firm re-emerged in its third coming as RENASCENCE (Legal Practitioners & Arbitrators) in December 2008.
