Olaseni A. Oyefeso

Seni, a Notary Public for Nigeria, oversees the commercial/civil litigation and Dispute Resolution practice of the firm. An astute negotiator, who trained in the art of Negotiation and Dispute Resolution at the Harvard Law School, combines Litigation with Corporate Commercial Matters. He advises clients on environmental issues, taxation, oil and gas, shipping, aviation and sundry other corporate matters.

His litigation experience cut across the entire territory of Nigeria in trial and appellate courts. He has handled numerous complex litigation matters for multinational companies, local companies and foreign corporations such as international Tobacco Company plc (formerly Phillip Morris Nigeria), Boeing Corporation U.S.A, Soceiete Generale Pour Favouriser Le Development Du Commerce Et de L’Industrie En France, Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited,   and Philip Morris International.

He is part-time General Counsel to international Tobacco Company plc and currently represents the company in series of complex multiparty trademark litigations at the Federal High Court of Nigeria; Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Nigeria.

In addition, he acts as Legal Advisor to the Estate of Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola (Deceased) (past head of a regional government in Nigeria) and currently defends suits with complex inheritance issues filed in various courts in Nigeria.

In Corporate Commercial matters, Seni has advised clients such as MTN telecommunication Mauritius (International) Limited, MTN Telecommunication Nigeria Limited, Centrica Energy Services Limited, International Financial Corporation (IFC) and currently advises Akorn Inc. U.S.A (a pharmaceutical giant in North America) as local counsel on a very complex commercial transaction connected to Nigeria.

The World Bank ‎contacted him to assist in the Nigeria world Bank EBA project to research; review Nigerian law and advise on the Legal Frame Work guiding access to water in Nigeria as well as associated environmental issues with a view to enhancing the business of agriculture in Nigeria;review Nigerian laws and regulations and advise as to how they may impact the enabling environment for agro business markets in Nigeria.

He has now taken the initiative to extend his commercial/general civil litigation practice to Election Petition Litigations as well as Criminal prosecutions/defences having recently taken part in a major Election Petition matter from Tribunal of first instance to Appeal Tribunal (OBANIKORO v ADENIJI) as well as in a criminal defence of an elected public officer in Rivers State where he successfully argued the jurisdiction of the Penal Code vis-a-vis the voyage of an accused person from the criminal code region into the penal code region of Nigeria.

He recently undertook a professional development course on Criminal prosecutions/defences at the International Nuremberg Principles Academy, Nurnberg Germany.
